Sandstone Terrace is a cuvée from Corralitos in the southern Santa Cruz Mountains. This name refers to the underlying geology that makes the area special. Underneath the clay and sandy clay loams that characterize much of the southern Santa Cruz Mountains is a bed of weathered sandstone, mudstone and shale. These soils were formed on ancient submarine terraces, whose close proximity to the coast give the wine its classy, cool-climate syrah character.
Dark purple and medium-full bodied. Aromas of blueberry, lavender, cinnamon, and thyme are followed with flavors of purple fruits and potpourri. Piercing aromatics and fine grained tannins are the result of whole cluster fermentation and minimal handling.
